After the War for Independence in 1857, the so-called Rebellion in English History, the British India Government distrusted the Muslims or any organizations of Muslims lest the same circumstances arise again.Muslims were forbidden to establish any political groups.Sir Syed Ahmed Khan organized the Muslims under the banner of education and with admirable power of persuasion and untiring hard work made them accept and excel in the English form of education whilst retaining their own rich Muslim heritage and verify their experience according to Islam. The Educational Trusts kept the Muslims up to date of all changes in the educational and political world and taught them and made it inherent in them to seek further knowledge in this light.
After the establishment of the All India Congress, purely a British invention designed to give the natives limited share in the goverance of their country while retaining total power, Muslims felt threatened because there was no-one to act on their behalf in this party.Hence in 1906 the Muslim League come into beginning so that the Muslims could be represented in a measure in the British India government.
The British were not pleased at this development because they knew once the Muslims gathered strength it would be impossible to stop them getting their aims.Muslims at that time were like dwellers in a no-man's land; some acceeding to the whims of the Hindus while others were bewitched by the riches of the British. The Muslim League established a platform which called the Muslims to be united or perish at the hands of the British and Hindus as their slaves. At that time Muslims had their Spiritual headquarters in Istanbul,Turkey, and all Muslims were united in this. The Second World War 1914-18 destroyed the Khalifat of Usmania and Muslims every where in the world were at the mercy of the either the English or French who seized control of the Middle East, Egypt and North Africa.
Alama Mohammad Iqbal realise the distingeration of the Muslim countries and their universal brotherhood and the viles of the West. After witnessing the decline of Muslims he made his life mission to make the Muslim world understand the importance of unity, faith and the right to live as independent nations, also to maintain the Universal Brotherhood of Islam.
At that the same time another muslim of heart,Mr. M.A.Jinnah, had strived hard to make the Congress Party accept the importance of the Muslims in India and their legal rights to equility in the Government but after nearly 30 years of his political life he realised that the Hindus were incompatible with the Muslims and that the gaol of the Congress was to be the only ruling party in the country. This belief was further established by the British India Act of 1935 which meant to establish a government on the ground of those in majority but which was in fact against the spirit of international law and a ruse to enslave the Muslims.
From 1935 onwards Mr.Jinnah and Alama Iqbal set about organizing the Muslims all over India,to inject in them that life under the Hindus wiil be worse than British slavery and that legally they have the right to live according to their religion. As the British had feared once the Muslims realised their life, their religion, depended on gaining independence they went from strength to strength and the slogan of kalma taheba led to organization and unity of such intensy that finally the dream of independence was a reality in 1947 and a new country was created....
